Privacy Policy

This page describes how the current SaddleMap app handles information you provide.

Accounts and personal history

Auth0 handles sign-in. SaddleMap stores your account profile, account saves, and personal history. Attended, visited, and used statuses and their notes are private to your account and are not included in public listings. You can edit or clear them on the listing detail page.

Private onboarding and interests

Accounts on the website and mobile app are for people aged 13 or older. Anyone can browse signed out. New and existing account holders provide a private name, home ZIP, and disciplines (including a primary discipline) or choose Just exploring, and confirm they are 13 or older. We store this confirmation, not an exact birthday. Age range, gender (including an optional self-description), and usage interests are optional and can be removed in Settings.

These answers are not included in public listings or reviews. Your existing public review display name is separate from the private name collected here. Disciplines and usage interests order suggested map filter shortcuts and automatically set the initial map filters. Explicit searches and saved searches override those defaults, and clearing filters keeps them cleared for the session. Age and gender are not used for this personalization or sent with analytics. All onboarding answers can be edited in Settings.

Location and device storage

A saved home location is stored on your device and synced to your account when signed in. Signed-in onboarding uses a five-digit US ZIP or full Canadian postal code to find an approximate city/map center; no street address or GPS permission is required. Browser location access requires your permission. Locations are used for map centering, nearby searches, distances, and routing. Google Maps services receive location and address requests. Guest saves and trip stops can be stored on your device.

Public content and communications

Published listings and reviews are public. Optional event alerts are controlled in Notifications. Account and listing-related communications may be sent separately from those optional alerts.

Optional text messages

SaddleMap is the service identified as Saddle Map App in our SMS registration.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

If you choose text notifications, SaddleMap stores your mobile number, verification status, category selections, consent history, and delivery and opt-out records. We use Twilio to send verification codes and the saved-event reminders or changes you opt into. Twilio receives your number and message content to provide this service.

We do not sell or share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers process this information to operate text messaging. You can change your selections or remove your number in Notifications, or reply STOP to stop texts. Removing a number does not erase consent history or the opt-out record used to prevent further texts.

AI and support

When enabled, Ask SaddleMap search requests and support chat messages are sent to OpenAI. Do not include passwords, payment details, or sensitive personal information. The support contact form sends your email, message, and any transcript you choose to include to the configured support recipient.

Usage and controls

Optional listing activity, discovery measurements, and advertisement view and click analytics run only after you opt in, on both the website and the iOS and Android apps. Anonymous view and click counts help local businesses and support keeping SaddleMap free. In the native apps, a non-blocking bottom bar offers Accept and Not now. Not now keeps analytics off and hides the bar for the current app launch; it returns on your next launch until you accept. After acceptance, the bar stays hidden unless you reopen preferences or turn analytics off. All app features and advertisement links work without accepting. The website stores your choice in local storage; the native app stores it on your device. Change or revoke it in website Settings (Cookie settings) or mobile Account (Analytics preferences). Turning analytics off stops further collection immediately; it does not erase measurements already submitted. Interactions while analytics are off are not queued for later submission. Anonymous measurements use a random session identifier, not an account or device identifier, and do not include your location or raw search text. Advertisements may still be displayed and their images loaded when analytics are off. You can clear personal notes and saves in the app, edit private profile answers and your home ZIP in Settings, clear a guest device home location, and sign out from your account. For privacy questions or account-deletion assistance, use the Help contact form without including sensitive details.
